Seminar was held in Khachmaz region within the project “Improving access of women and girls with disabilities to public services in Baku, Ganja, and Guba-Khachmaz region
The seminar was held on May 31, 2024, in Khachmaz region within the project “Improving access of women and girls with disabilities to public services in Baku, Ganja, and Guba-Khachmaz region” funded by the UN Trust Fund to End Violence against Women and managed by the "Disabled Women's Society" Public Union to end violence against women. The aim of the seminar was to bring together members of the local community to discuss about how to end discrimination in relation to issues of attitudes and behavior, violence against women and girls with disabilities in public, and the significance of community support. Local community members from the city of Guba, as well as women and girls with disabilities and their family members attended the seminar.

Mahluga Rahimova, the chairwoman of the "Disabled Women's Society" Public Union, opened the seminar and provided the participants with extensive information about the project. Information about stereotypes and incorrect attitudes about disabilities and disability in society was presented during the seminar. They discussed the work that will be done by the project that is being implemented in this area and its significance. Additionally, the difficulties that women and girls with disabilities face in their families were discussed, and it was emphasized how crucial it is for communities to protect their rights and assist them in this regard.
The seminar was conducted by Irada Rizazadeh, the trainer of the project, the chairman of the Public Union for Assistance to the Social Welfare of Citizens.


Employees of Khachmaz District Executive Authority Parviz Amirjanov, Taryel Didarov, director of KOBIA-Guba-Khachmaz Regional Development Center Azer Panahov, employees of DTSERA for Khachmaz region, cultural workers, employees of other state institutions participated in the seminar in order to support women and girls with disabilities. The seminar discussed mutual cooperation, innovations in the direction of integration of women with disabilities into society, development of communities in the region and surrounding villages, preparation of an action program. The seminar ended in favorable conditions.

The overall goal of the project is to improve the accessibility and quality of public services for women and girls with disabilities from low-income families, including internally displaced families. Project will be implemented during the period of September 2022 - August 2025 (36 months).
UN Trust Fund to End Violence against Women is the only global grant-making mechanism dedicated exclusively to addressing all forms of violence against women and girls.
