Baku, September 23, 2025. The Public Union “Society of Disabled Women” has held the final conference of the project “Improving Access to Public Services for Women and Girls with Disabilities in Baku, Ganja, and the Guba–Khachmaz Region”, implemented during 2022–2025 and funded by the UN Trust Fund to End Violence against Women. The main goal of the project was to expand access of women and girls with disabilities to rehabilitation, legal aid, functional assessment, social adaptation, and psychological support services; to strengthen their legal awareness; and to promote their civic participation. Between 2022 and 2025, hundreds of women and girls took part in sociological surveys, awareness-raising sessions, legal consultations, trainings, and public discussions organized in Baku, Ganja, and the Guba–Khachmaz region. The final conference brought together representatives of government institutions, international organizations, civil society organizations, human rights defenders, and the media. During the event, the results of the project were presented to the public, appreciation certificates were awarded to partner institutions, and opportunities for future cooperation towards strengthening inclusive policies were discussed.

The UN Resident Coordinator in Azerbaijan, Ms. Vladanka Andreeva, also addressed the conference. She highly valued the project’s contribution to the integration of women and girls with disabilities into society on an equal basis with others and underlined the United Nations’ continued support. In addition, information was presented on the activities of the UN Trust Fund to End Violence against Women. It was noted that since 1996, the Fund has supported hundreds of projects worldwide, making a significant contribution to preventing violence against women and girls, improving their access to essential services, and strengthening states’ commitments to gender equality.

The Public Union “Society of Disabled Women” believes that this initiative is of great importance for the protection of the rights of women and girls with disabilities in Azerbaijan, for their social integration, and for the building of an inclusive society. It also provides a solid foundation for broader partnerships in the future.
