Seminar was held in Gusar district within the project “Improving access of women and girls with disabilities to public services in Baku, Ganja, and Guba-Khachmaz region”.
The seminar was held on May 30.2024, in Gusar district within the project “Improving access of women and girls with disabilities to public services in Baku, Ganja, and Guba-Khachmaz region” funded by the UN Trust Fund to End Violence against Women and managed by the "Disabled Women's Society" Public Union to end violence against women. The aim of the seminar was to bring together members of the local community to discuss about how to end discrimination in relation to issues of attitudes and behavior, violence against women and girls with disabilities in public, and the significance of community support. Local community members from Gusar district, as well as women and girls with disabilities and their family members attended the seminar.
 

During the seminar, the support programs carried out within the framework of the project, the work done in the direction of solving the social problems of women with disabilities, positive results and changes in the resolution of appeals, achievements and work to be done, the difficulties encountered, the formulation of a policy of cooperation in solving the negative attitude towards disabled women in some state institutions, educational issues were discussed.            
A question-and-answer session was organized with the participants. Discussions were held on the mechanism of appointing community leaders in 32 villages of Gusar district. During the seminar, there were also discussions about disability and stereotypes and wrong attitudes about disability in society.

Women and girls with disabilities expressed their opinions about the problems they face and the ways to solve them. With the support of the implemented project, discussions were held about the works done and to be done in this field, their importance and solutions. They talked about the problems faced by women and girls with disabilities in their families, and the importance of ensuring their rights and providing them with support from communities was highlighted.   


25 participants attended the seminar. 
The overall goal of the project is to improve the accessibility and quality of public services for women and girls with disabilities from low-income families, including internally displaced families.
Project will be implemented during the period of September 2022 - August 2025 (36 months).
UN Trust Fund to End Violence against Women is the only global grant-making mechanism dedicated exclusively to addressing all forms of violence against women and girls.
