"Disabled Women's Society" Public Union organized the next training in Baku with the support of its successful project.

 
"Disabled Women's Society" Public Union is successfully continuing the implementation of the project "Improving access to public services for women and girls with disabilities in Baku, Ganja and Guba-Khachmaz region" with the financial support of the UN Trust Fund to End Violence against Women.



 An interesting next seminar was organized in Baku on July 8 with the support of the project of "Disabled Women's Society" Public Union. IDP communities and IDP women and girls with disabilities also participated in the seminar.
Objective of the workshop: To meet local community members and discuss ways to eliminate discrimination and the importance of their communities' support in relation to attitudes and behavior and violence against women and girls with disabilities in society.

 With the support of the seminar, in accordance with the plan of the Great Return to the lands freed from occupation, the need to increase awareness with the participation of local communities in organizing psychological support, employment, and legal assistance for women with disabilities was conveyed.
The seminar led to interesting discussions with the participation of internally displaced women and women who are representatives of the local community living in Baku.
The seminar was attended by public institutions from various fields operating in Baku, as well as relatives and friends of persons with disabilities.

 Chairman of "Disabled Women's Society" Public Union Mahluga Rahimova declared the seminar open and gave detailed information to the participants about the successful strategy of the project. Trainer Irada Rizazade gave information about disability, which is the main focus of the seminar, stereotypes and wrong behaviors about disability in society. Forced displaced women and girls with disabilities put forward interesting proposals for the solution of the problems they face and spoke with directions of support. With the support of the implemented project, discussions were held about the works done and to be done in this field, their importance, and solutions. The problems faced by internally displaced women and disabled girls in their families were discussed, and the importance of ensuring their rights and supporting them by communities was noted.


The overall goal of the project: to further improve the accessibility and quality of public services for women and girls with disabilities from poor families, including internally displaced persons.
The project covers the cities of Baku, Ganja and the regions of Guba, Gusar, Khachmaz and will be implemented during the period of September 2022 - August 2025 (36 months in total).
The UN Trust Fund to End Violence against Women (UN Trust Fund) is the only global grantmaking mechanism dedicated exclusively to addressing all forms of violence against women and girls.
