A Roundtable dedicated to the protection of the rights of women and girls with disabilities was held at the Quba branch of the Azerbaijan State Pedagogical University, initiated by the Disabled Women Society Public Union. The main purpose of organizing the Roundtable was to discuss ways to improve access to public services for women and girls with disabilities. The event took place within the framework of the project “Improving Access to Public Services for Women and Girls with Disabilities in Baku, Ganja, Qusar, Quba, and Khachmaz Districts”, implemented by the Disabled Women Society Public Union with the financial support of the UN Trust Fund to End Violence against Women (UN Trust Fund). The objectives of the Roundtable were to change public attitudes towards this group, to strengthen their social protection, to prevent cases of domestic violence, and to jointly discuss ways to combat discrimination. The event brought together representatives of the Quba District Executive Authority, local government and municipal bodies, employment services, healthcare, social service and education institutions, non-governmental organizations, and community members. During the discussions, participants shared their experiences and put forward proposals regarding the creation of support groups for women with disabilities, strengthening inter-community networking, and promoting social integration. Chairwoman of the Disabled Women Society Public Union, Ms. Mahlukə Rahimova, emphasized that holding such events consistently in the regions contributes to the protection of the rights of women and girls with disabilities and fosters their more active participation in society.
