The second seminar was held on April 28-29, 2023, in Ganja City within the project “Improving access of women and girls with disabilities to public services in Baku, Ganja, and Guba-Khachmaz region” funded by the UN Trust Fund to End Violence against Women and managed by the "Disabled Women's Society" Public Union to end violence against women. The goal of the seminar to bring together members of the local community to discuss about how to end discrimination in relation to issues of attitudes and behavior, violence against women and girls with disabilities in public, and the significance of community support. As mentioned in the seminar, community organizations from various fields operating in the city of Ganja, as well as people with disabilities and their family members, and relatives attended the seminar.

Mahluga Rahimova, the chairwoman of the "Disabled Women's Society" Public Union, opened the seminar and provided the participants with extensive information about the project’s succesful strategy. Information about stereotypes and incorrect attitudes about disabilities and disability in society was presented during the seminar. Women and girls with disabilities made some interesting recommendations and discussed the best ways to support them in resolving the issues they ran into. Discussions about the work completed and that needs to be done in this field, their importance, and solutions were held with the help of the project. Additionally, the difficulties that women and girls with disabilities face in their families were discussed, and it was emphasized how crucial it is for communities to protect their rights and assist them in this regard.

The report of the Internal Coordination Council formed in the city of Ganja was heard at the seminar. Discussions were made about the importance of cooperation between the internal coordination council, formed from women with disabilities and community representatives, and the coordination council, formed from representatives of public organizations, for achieving positive results. The main goal of the joint cooperation of the Coordination Councils is to find solutions to the difficulties and problems faced by people with disabilities, their expectations, and solutions by investigating and gathering them together. At the end of the event, psychological tests were conducted to check the knowledge and skills of the participants regarding people with disabilities.






The project covers the cities of Baku, Ganja and the regions of Guba, Gusar and Khachmaz, and will be implemented during the period of September 2022 - August 2025 (36 months).
