           STEREOTYPES AND MISCONCEPTIONS ABOUT DISABILITY IN SOCIETY:

  "Disabled Women's Society" Public Union organized a seminar in Guba.
   On February 23, 2024, the "Disabled Women's Society" Public Union held a seminar on "Problems of attitude and behavior towards women and girls with limited health opportunities and social support in public places".
   "Disabled Women's Society" Public Union has been successfully implementing the project "Improving access to public services for women and girls with limited health opportunities in Baku, Ganja and Guba-Khachma regions" funded by the UN Fund for Combating Violence Against Women since September 2022.
    The overall goal of the project is to increase the accessibility and quality of public services for women and girls with disabilities from low-income families, including internally displaced families.
       The participants of the workshop received various state and public services useful for women and girls with disabilities and their families, including instructions on recognizing different forms of violence against them. The problems faced by women and girls with limited health opportunities were raised
by the participants of the seminar, proposals were made to solve the problems faced by women and presented to the Coordination Council established with the participation of state institutions.
Public organizations from various fields operating in Guba region, relatives of disabled people, students of Azerbaijan State Pedagogical University's Guba Branch and themselves took part in the seminar.
       The participation of the students of Azerbaijan State Pedagogical University's Guba Branch studying Social Work was of particular interest in the seminar.
The importance of holding such seminars in educational institutions was brought up. At the suggestion of trainer Irada Rzazadeh he discussed the creation of joint cooperative relationships between disabled women and girls, students, and the issues of group organization. It was proposed to create a Friendship Group.This idea was brought up as a novelty in the region and was received with interest by the participants. The organization of the Friendship Group is to achieve innovations in the direction of the essence of social work among women, girls and students with disabilities. The seminar was held in the building of the Guba Branch of the Azerbaijan State Pedagogical University. Chairman of the "Disabled Women's Society" Public Union Mahluga Rahimova spoke about the essence of the seminar, support programs, organization of educational work. He informed the participants about the successful strategy of the project. Inviting new participants every time during the seminars leads to the creation of new support groups, as well as to the increase of innovations, the growth of the network, and the provision of new ideas and proposals. Information about those with problems is collected and transferred to the relevant state institutions, and assistance is provided to solve them.

were helped to promptly solve the problems of women and girls with limited health opportunities, which led to the emergence of new ideas about their rights. and turned them into activists. As a result of the sessions held at the events, organizing group trainings on the rights, proposals, life experiences and obstacles of people with disabilities, who are mostly unaware of their rights, gives positive results and is a more effective way to discuss their solutions.
  The overall goal of the project is to improve the accessibility and quality of public services for women and girls with disabilities from low-income families, including internally displaced families.

Project will be implemented during the period of September 2022 - August 2025 (36 months).
