The mobile support program will be operated by members of the Coordination Council.
The first round table meeting was held on February 16, 2023 in Guba city within the project “Improving access of women and girls with disabilities to public services in Baku, Ganja, and Guba-Khachmaz region” funded by the UN Trust Fund to End Violence against Women and managed by the "Disabled Women's Society" Public Union to end violence against women.
First, the national anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan was played, and with a minute of silence, the memory of our martyrs and victims of the earthquake in Turkey was commemorated.
The overall goal of the project is to improve the accessibility and quality of public services for women and girls with disabilities from low-income families, including internally displaced families.
The purpose of the round table is to prepare local action plans that include measures in the field of improving the accessibility and quality of public services, to change attitudes towards women and girls with disabilities in public places and to reduce and prevent cases of violence against them with the participation of the government, civil society, and business organizations that provide services to the population in various fields (education, health, social protection, economic development, employment, culture, human rights, etc.).
Representatives of various government, non-government, and business organizations participated in the round table. The pertinent state institutions of the Gusar, Guba and Khachmaz regions took part in the round table. Women and girls with disabilities who were invited to the round table during the event talked about their struggles with finding solutions. In order to address the concerns raised, representatives of the pertinent local government organizations provided clarifications, and it was reported that they would receive support from the institutions in which they work within the bounds of the legislation.
The Coordination Council for the Guba-Khachmaz region (Guba, Gusar, and Khachmaz districts) was established during the event and was made up of representatives from the local government and other institutions. The purpose of the Coordination Council is to identify, coordinate, and implement joint activities to facilitate access to public and goverment services for women and girls with disabilities, who are the main beneficiaries of the project. A chairman and a secretary were elected to the coordination council, and a proposal was made to introduce the MOBILE SUPPORT program. The members of the coordination council discussed how to address the issues faced by girls and women with disabilities in all areas, both during and after the project, with a focus on finding quick solutions.
