PRESS RELEASE
The aim of the "Disabled Women Society" Public Union (DWSA PU) is to protect the rights of women and girls with disabilities within the framework of Azerbaijani and international law and to improve their social, psychological and physical health, and economic conditions. Since its establishment, the organization has been helping to solve their problems by carrying out planned actions with the support of various projects and programs.
In September of this year, “Disabled Women Society” Public Union (DWSA PU), with the financial support of the UN Trust Fund to End Violence against Women began implementing the project “Improving access of women and girls with disabilities to public services in Baku, Ganja, and Guba-Khachmaz region”. The overall goal of the project is to further improve the accessibility and quality of public services for women and girls with disabilities from low-income families, including from internally displaced families. The project includes the development and implementation of trainings and consultations on professional communication with women and girls with disabilities for managers and service personnel of public organizations, as well as non-governmental and business organizations. As envisaged in the project, it will develop practical guidelines on professional ethical communication with people with disabilities. Through the seminars, women and girls with disabilities and their family members will be instructed and informed about various public services useful to them, including on the recognition of different forms of violence against them.
Beneficiaries will mainly be women and girls with disabilities from low-income families including from internally displaced communities who need support. At the same time, this project will benefit management and employees of public and non-governmental organizations that provide social, healthcare, justice, education, employment, law enforcement and other services.
The project will cover the cities of Baku and Ganja and the districts of Guba, Gusar, and Khachmaz. Project implementation period: September 2022–August 2025 (36 months in total).
